Cross: The Presidents' Choice
Cross is undoubtedly a luminary of the international fine writing world, which is exemplified by the fact that they’ve been the official pen supplier to the White House since the 1970s, going back at least until the Gerald Ford administration. All presidents from Ronald Reagan to Donald Trump have used Cross pens on official paperwork, and they gained the title of official suppliers under Bill Clinton’s leadership.
Barack Obama, George W Bush and Bill Clinton used Cross Townsend fountain pens, although Obama later switched to the Century II in black lacquer with a medium nib and black ink. Donald Trump has followed suit, placing an order for 150 Cross Century II pens in January 2017. Pens used to sign legislation are often then given out as souvenirs to those who attend the bill signings.
