What's it designed for?
The Tombow Mono Drawing Pen is a fineliner pen specifically designed for illustration purposes. It is often used by artists with a passion for the comic/manga industry, but is also used by fine artists, engineers, designers, portrait artists and more.
Key FeaturesThe pens are produced from hard-wearing plastic and have a metal-cased fineliner tip, which provides you with a very precise drawing experience. They are filled with water-based black pigment, which is also odourless and won't bleed through most papers. We recommend using the pens on smooth cartridge papers.
Tips and tricks
When sketching with fineliner pens, it's best to work with thinner pens before adding bold details with thicker pens. This allows you to build a foundation sketch, where you can enhance specific areas with thicker pens when you're ready.
There is also a broad range of techniques you can use, such as line-art, pointillism, crosshatch, comic-style, scribbling and even a technique where you try not to take the pen off the page! It's always a great idea to experiment on some scrap paper to see which technique will suit your project the most.
