Details

The Technograph Pencil from Caran d'Ache is one of the brand's most popular choices, used by artists and creators around the world. A magnificent choice for sketching, illustration and fine-art projects, this pencil is also great for engineering and architectural designs.

With a wide range of grades to choose from, the Caran d'Ache Technograph Pencil can be used in a multitude of ways. We recommend using hard grades (4H to H) for sketching your subject and adding subtle details. Softer grades (B to 6B) are much darker and are great for layering to add depth and structure to your drawings. Darker grades are also much easier to blend and a little shading goes a long way.

Did you know there are lots of different ways to blend graphite pencil? A tortillon is the most commonly used tool, but there are also household supplies that work great for shading. Cotton buds are a cheaper alternative to a tortillon, a short bristled paint brush is another great choice, and produces subtle blends. If you need to shade large areas, you can also use cotton pads or tissue paper. It's always best to avoid using your finger, as the oils in your hands can damage the paper or leave unwanted blemishes in your shading.
